Our Why

Here at Helen's Healing Rescue, our mission is to rescue animals at risk of euthanasia from local animal control facilities and give them a chance at a loving, permanent home. We are committed to serving our community by reducing the homeless animal population and supporting low-income pet owners with essential medical care, food, and other resources.

Our work relies heavily on the dedication of our incredible foster families and volunteers. Without their compassion and hard work, our mission would not be possible. Through their efforts, we are able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for each animal while they await their forever home.

We collaborate with local veterinary clinics to ensure each pet receives the medical care they need and host community micro-chipping events to help lost pets find their way back home. Our educational initiatives also promote responsible pet ownership and best practices.

Thanks to the generosity of our community through events and donations, and the unwavering support of our fosters and volunteers, we are able to continue making a difference in the lives of animals and their human companions. Together, we strive to create a more compassionate and supportive environment for all.

Who are we?

Meet our founder, Helen Riley! She was born in the UK, but grew up in the states. Her heart to serve her community is boundless! Saving homeless animals fills her heart and she will go to any lengths to find their furever home! She also owns a local shop, Rockin' Rooster and Happy Hen, that offers all kinds of neat, one-of-a-kind items and gifts, and many sellables benefit the rescue! Lastly, but not least - She is strong in her faith and ensures our local food pantry boxes stay full! She also serves with Boaz Ministries that host weekly hot meals, and food boxes for those in need.

She really is amazing!

This is Terri Anne one of our Board Members, a 30-year animal advocate, formerly with A Life to Live in Houston Texas, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, serving on the natural disaster crisis team. Growing up in Blue Ridge, Ga, she's always loved animals and ensuring they are loved is her heartwarming gift to the homeless animal population. She brings unique experience in neonatal care, alternative solutions to shelter surrenders, and fundraising for the needs of each and every animal in our care.

Her longtime quote is simply, "Save them All".

This is Jenn (and her husband)! She is our newest volunteer, helping us with all the things from making window decals, our tshirts and everything crafty! She is also a foster mom!

"I've had a love for animals since a young girl when I pitched a fit with my mom for not letting me bring in a momma cat and kittens at 8 years old. I do it, because you'll never find more loyalty and trust than in an animal."
